Commissioned Sewing Table

This commissioned sewing table is based off of a desk I designed and built last year. The top is comprised of two pieces of reclaimed heart pine salvaged from a Downtown Durham renovation project that has been planed, sanded and sealed using natural shellac. The base is constructed of new oak and is stained and sealed with danish oil.

Commissioned Desk

A commissioned folding desk featuring a reversible table top and reclaimed materials. The table top is a 19th century cellar door that was purchased from an architectural salvage store near Athens Georgia. Both sides are really beautiful and have different features so the desk is built in a way that allows the owner to easily reverse which side is the work surface. The door was cleaned, sanded, and treated with shellac to provide a clean, smooth, and safe working surface. The desk also features other reclaimed lumber that was treated similarly. The majority of the structural pieces are yellow pine that is hand rubbed with natural danish oil. The desk affords a large working surface while being easily dismantled for storage and features a combination of new and reclaimed material.

Vintage Emeco Industrial Rolling Chair

This vintage Emeco industrial rolling chair is in good vintage shape for being 45 years old, with only a bit of thread-loss on the seat and no tears to the vinyl. It features a welded steel frame that has an attractive worn patina. The chair adjusts from office desk height (17") to almost 22" high. The back can also be adjusted higher and in and out. The casters are all in good shape and roll freely. This would look great sitting at a vintage tanker desk or at your craft/sewing table. Pair of Eames LCW Reproductions

This is a pair of Eames LCW reproductions in wood with a black finish. I'm not certain of the manufacturer but I am certain that they are not authentic. They do look great though and for less than $150 for the pair you can save yourself at least a $1000 over the real ones. They are structurally and cosmetically in good shape with no noticeable scratches, gouges, etc. One chair does have a slightly short leg that makes it wobble a bit, but all the joints are sound. Overall a great design that is actually within reach.

I may consider selling these separately for $75 per chair.

Heywood Wakefield Twin Headboard & Footboard

This twin size Heywood Wakefield M530 Stylemaster "dogbone" headboard and footboard in "Wheat" finish is in awesome vintage condition. It could be refinished and be perfect but I'm fond of vintage furniture looking "vintage". This bed does not have side rails but can be attached to a normal metal bed frame. Buy it for your guest room or give your kid the most stylish bed in town. Heywood Wakefield furniture is made from hard maple and lasts a lifetime. This model (or one very similar) is still sold directly from their factory in queen and king only and starts at $1395.

Vintage 4-Piece Sectional Sofa

This incredible 4-piece sectional sofa is in great condition for being 50 years old. Long and low, it sits with great style. The nubby tweed upholstery features hints of a shiny thread throughout and is in overall good condition with only a few areas that are worn. No fading, no tears, no smells. The foam is also still in good condition. It features walnut peg legs with brass caps that would look brilliant with a little work. All is structurally in great condition. This sofa can be rearranged to fit different dimensioned rooms. Overall a very cool vintage sectional in good shape.

Vintage Plycraft Lounge Chair

This is a classic vintage lounge chair in the style of the Eames lounge that you've seen in every interior design magazine for the last 35 years. This particular chair does not have any labels but is most likely made by Plycraft in the early 70's. The chair has a walnut plywood shell in good vintage condition with only a few light scratches. The vinyl/leather (I'm not sure) is in great condition with no scratches or tears although there are a few areas of discoloration. Overall it's in great vintage condition and at a great price.

Vintage Kroehler Sofa

This vintage Kroehler brand sofa has great lines and an awesome mid-century design. The fabric is in decent vintage condition there are worn/thin spots at the front of the cushions, on the arm rests, and at the top of the back. There is also a small punch in the back of the fabric that could be mended. It has great style for someone who wants to invest in recovering a piece or is acceptable in as-is condition. Has great vintage peg legs in good shape. Overall a very good looking vintage sofa.

Vintage Sicur Brevettato Folding Bicycle

This vintage folding Sicur Brevettato bicycle is an awesome example of smart mid-century design; folds to fit into even a small car, enclosed bike chain, great luggage rack. This bike does need some work as it has been spray painted in cheap silver paint including the chrome, although the chrome appears to be in good shape. The tires are dry rotted but will hold air for a while. The seat is not original and is very large for the bicycle. I have ridden this bicycle and everything seams to function correctly. I'm not a bike expert so if I'm glossing over something important do not hesitate in asking questions.

Vintage Black Vinyl Chair

This vintage black vinyl lounge style chair has a ton of character. The wooden arms were sanded to be smooth and are oiled with natural Danish oil, but still retain an aged and weathered look. The metal legs have been sanded and repainted in gloss white with refinished silver caps at the ends. The vinyl is in good vintage shape with some discoloration and specks of paint showing as well as one 1/2 inch tear on the upper right hand corner of the back.

Eames Round Table and Pair of Side Shell Chairs

This is an Eames designed round table paired with 2 fiberglass Eames side shell chairs in a dark gray fiberglass/cream leather upholstery combination. The table is in good vintage condition with an aluminum base with 4 adjustable vinyl feet. The table top is bright white with only a few surface scratches; the edge is finished in dark gray vinyl. The two side chairs are also in great vintage condition with all of the feet intact, only very slight scuffing on the legs and no tears on the upholstery. This set would work well in a home or in an office environment.

Custom Built Double Desk

This large simple desk was built for a friend who needed a space for her and her husband to both work in their downtown Durham loft space. The desk was going to be placed on a second floor loft space overlooking the living space and therefore needed to be portable in order to get it up into the space which is reached by a ladder. The desk is constructed almost entirely from left over building materials from a Habitat for Humanity thriftstore, with a vintage 6-panel door serving as the top and focal point.

His & Hers Vintage Columbia 3 Speed Bicycles

His & hers vintage Columbia 3 speed bicycles in awesome yellow. These are in need of some work as they both have flat tires (although the tires themselves don't appear to be in bad shape), the brakes seem to need some adjusting, and they could use a good cleaning as well as some steel wool on the chrome to get them in great shape. The seats are both in good shape and the rims don't appear to be bent. Bicycles aren't my specialty but a matching vintage set was too good to pass up.

This vintage industrial style chair comes in a fantastic bright turquoise vinyl/silver metal combination that will add a punch of color to any room. The vinyl has no tears although there are a few surface scratches on the seat that are visible in the photograph. The frame has been sanded and re-sprayed in its original silver metallic color. Great lines and very comfortable.

Eames Fiberglass Shell Chair

The classic fiberglass side chair designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1948 and manufactured by Herman Miller. This is a great vintage example with a nice luster to the fiberglass while still having a vintage patina. The zinc legs are in good shape although some scratches are present. All four vinyl feet are there and in good shape. There are some scratches on the edges of the fiberglass seat. The chair is a kind of butterscotch yellow and is really beautiful.

Eames Tandem Sling Seating

Designed in 1962 by Charles and Ray Eames and manufactured by Herman Miller this 2 seat example is in great vintage condition. The seat pads are nearly flawless and there is only slight scuffing to the aluminum frame. This seat is in a heavy green vinyl. I also have a set of seat pads in blue.

Made by Thonet, these two matching bent plywood chairs recall the classic Eames DCW for a fraction of the cost. Both are in good vintage condition and very solid. They have an oak veneer with only some wear in the seats and a few small chips to the edges. Overall a great looking set.

Note: neither chair has any markings, but some online sleuthing has me almost certain that they are made by Thonet.

This incredible set is an ovular table designed by Ray and Charles Eames from their Aluminum Group and manufatured by Herman Miller. The table features a walnut top with dark gray vinyl edging and is in great vintage shape with only a few scratches and scuffs to the top and edging. The table is paired with 4 fiberglass shell chairs also designed by Ray and Charles Eames and manufactured by Herman Miller. All the chairs are a matching off white color with original black Eiffel bases. Overall the chairs are in good to great vintage shape with 2 of the chairs missing some or all of the vinyl feet. (These can be purchase online). Overall an incredible set.

It is paired with an Eames inspired wooden chair (probably manufactured by Thonet?) that had seen better days but was completely taken apart, sanded, reglued and refinished with natural Tung Oil. The desk also has a Tung Oil finish.
